Sir Earle Page, interviewed on his arrival by the Monterey, suggested the emigration of surplus American labour to Australia as a means of strengthening Anglo-American relations. He said Australia hoped for an increased investment of American capital in Australia. The Commonwealth was ready and able to absorb immigrants.
