THE REGENT
“I SEE ICE.” George Formby, the inimitable Yorkshire comedian will be seen finally tonight in “I See Ice.” “DANGEROUS TO KNOW.” An all-star cast of some of Hollywood’s players, including Anna May Wong, Akim Tamiroff, Gail Patrick, Lloyd Nolan and Roscoe Karns, will be seen in the new Paramount drama, Dangerous to Know,” which will open tomorrow at the Regent Theatre. Adapted from a play by Edgar Wallace, the story shows the inside private life of the political boss of one of America’s major cities. Life isn’t safe for a man who knows too much about two women at the same time, and Akim I Tamiroff, ruthless patron of the arts, racketeer and political ringmaster, succeeds in getting everything in the world he wants until he tries to throw off his oldest friend in exchange for an aristocratic beauty who despises him. It is an exceptionally powerful play that gives Tamiroff a vehicle to eclipse his performances in “The Generalised at Dawn” and “The Buccaneer.”
