WEEKEND MATCHES. MIRAMAR BEAT WAIRARAPA. The first of the home and home games between Miramar and Wairarapa was played on the Miramar links yesterday, and resulted in a win for Miramar by 13 games to 6, with two games halved. Both sides won three games in the fourballs, with one game halved, in the morning, but Miramar prevailed in the singles in the afternoon by 10 games to 3, with one game halved.

The following are the results, the Miramar players being mentioned first: — Fourballs: J. H. Drake and H. E. H. Aplin lost to D. C. Collins and W. H. Rowles, 2 and 1; H. M. Dykes and J. W. Sandham lost to K. H. Allan and D. Cameron, 4 and 2; D. R. Richmond and C. V. Sutherland beat E. Bidwill and G. O’Neale, 4 and 2; J. A. Jacques and A. Marsden and W. Fountaain and H. R. Bloxam, all square; C. H. Armstrong and B. M. Gibson beat H. Lawson and L. Benton, 4 and 2; H. Parkin and W. Parkin beat J. Bidwill and J. W. Card, 2 and 1; T. R. Lawson and B. G. Stephens lost to J. W. Crawford and W. H. Cunningham, 6 and 4.

Singles: Drake beat Collins, 6 and 4; Aplin beat Rowles, 2 and 1; Dykes beat K. H. Allen, 1 up; Sandham beat Cameron, 2 up; Richmond lost'to E. Collins and Rowles (Wairarapa) paired well to defeat Drake and Aplin in the fourballs, but the Miramar men had their revenge in the singles. Drake covered the course in 75 to defeat Collins by 6 and 4, and Aplin over Rowles by 2 and 1 after an even match.

MASTERTON CLUB. STABLEFORD COMPETITION. A Stableford competition was played by members of the Masterton Golf Club on Saturday, the results being: — Seniors, J. P. Hornabrook, 38; junior, J. C. Forsyth, 35. MAHUNGA CLUB. BOGEY COMPETITION PLAY. The following were the best cards returned for a bogey competition play-, ed on Saturday by members of the Mahunga Golf Club: —W. W. Hendry, 3 up; P. Hamill, 2 up; T. Nilson, 1 up; G. R. Ward, 1 down. In the first round of the ladies’ trophy competition W. W. Hendry defeated G. R. Ward, 2 and 1.. In ’the final for the captain’s trophy competition D. A. Hunn defeated W. W. Hendry 1 up.
