The report of the Trades Union Congress to be ‘ presented at the annual congress at. Blackpool on September 5, shows that unions declined to countenance a dilution of labour for rearmament. The report adds that the Trades Union congress discussed suggestions of industrial action against the Fascist Powers, but found all to be. impracticable. The council is not calling a special conference to discuss Spain and the Government’s attitude to the Fascist Powers, but is ready to arrange a debate if it is generally demanded.
