MOTOR FATALITY
WOMAN KILLED CRASH INTO TELEGRAPH POLE (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 21. One woman was killed and three women were injured when a motorcar in which they were travelling struck a telegraph pole in the Great South Road on Saturday afternoon. The victims were: — Killed. Mrs Elizabeth Muir, aged 68, Papatoetoe. Injured. Mrs Barbara Kirkbride, aged 52, Mangere, fractured ankle and shock. Condition not serious. Miss Mabel Evelyn Wills, aged 56, Papatoetoe, concussion. Condition not serious. Miss Ada K. Watson, Papatoetoe, abrasions. The women were occupants of a large car which was travelling from the city parallel witn an outwardbound tram-car. The accident occurred when a taxi proceeding in the same direction was passing between the car and the tram. Swinging to the left, the car mounted the footpath and struck a telegraph pole with considerable force, the engine being pushed back and the windscreen shattered. Mrs Muir, who was driving, was crushed against the wheel and her neck was broken.
