DELEGATES ON THEIR WAY TO SYDNEY RECEPTION IN AUCKLAND (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Thirty-six delegates from the United Kingdom, Eire and Canada to the British Commonwealth Relations Conference at Sydney have arrived by the Aorangi. The majority of the delegates are in New Zealand for a week. They include some of the most distinguished men in political, historical, naval and military circles. The British Commonwealth delegates were met by the mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, and also by the honorary secretary of the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs, Mr G. R. Powles, of Wellington. The conference is to be opened by the Australian Prime Minister, Mr J. A. Lyons, of Sydney on September 3, and will be continued, in the Blue Mountains, until September 17. Delegates have been selected with a view to providing a cross-section of opinion in politics, academic circles, defence, labour and business. The New Zealand delegation will be headed the Hon W. Downie Stewart. Some delegates are to leave by the Aorangi tonight, and others by "the Maunganui next Monday. There will be a civic reception to the overseas delegates at noon today.
