WEDDING
HOOPER—DOUGLAS. Carterton and Porangahau families were united by the wedding at Waipukurau recently of Enid Veronica, only daughter of Mr and Mrs A. J. Douglas, Porangahau, to Joseph Stringer, only son of Mrs Hooper, Carterton. The bride wore a simple gown of shimmer satin cut on classic lines and finished with self-covered buttons. A halo of orange blossom held the silkembroidered train to form a second train, and she carried a sheaf of white gladioli. Miss Noeline Laing, Feilding, a cousin, and Miss Joan Siteman, Wimbledon, were the bridesmaids, attired in white embroidered crepe, cut on similar lines to the bride's frock. Mr Don Symes, Hastings, was best man, and the bride’s brother, Mr Brian Douglas, acted as groomsman. A reception was later held in the Tavistock Hotel, the bride’s mother wearing a navy ensemble of Swiss hand-embroidered triple georgette and a navy model hat. The mother of the bridegroom wore a blue gown with violet trimmings. The bride travelled in a frock of woodland green, worn with a smart halo hat.
