PULP MAGAZINES
STATEMENT BY MINISTER OF CUSTOMS CHECK ON OBJECTIONABLE IMPORTATIONS (By Telegraph—Press Association.) ■ WELLINGTON, This Day. Interviewed with regard to pulp magazines, the Hon W. Nash (Minister of Customs) said no prohibitory action • with regard to the importation had been contemplated by the Government. He said importers of magazines, both new and pulp, had readily offered cooperation in the effort of the Minister to check the importation of objectionable magazines. A great majority of the back-dated magazines were entirely reputable, and no objection had been raised to them. Firms dealing in the magazines had assured him that they were equally concerned to check the sale of objectionable types of magazines, and he was hopeful that, with the co-operation of the firms concerned so definitely assured, no official action would be required.
