The captain of the British steamer Stanforth has advised the owners by wireless that-the vessel was deliberately bombed while en route to Oran from BarcelonaTwo bombs were dropped, but no damage was done. RAIQ ON BARCELONA WITNESSED BY BRITISH COMMISSIONERS RAIN OF DEATH FROM “SILENT” PLANES (Recd This Day, 9.55 am.) BARCELONA, August 19. Within twenty-four hours of the British commissioners’ arrivalto investigate the bombing of open towns, Barcelona, suffered its hundredth air raid. Eight planes, adopting the “silent” method of throttling down until the engines are ticking over, bombed the old town, killing fourteen persons, and injuring ninety.
