NEW ZEALAND POTATOES
f STILL TO BE DENIED ENTRY TO AUSTRALIA. SAVE FOR SALES TO OVERSEA SHIPS. CANBERRA, August 19. The Prime Minister, Mr J. A. Lyons, announced tonight that the embargo under which New Zealand potatoes are refused entry to Australia will be continued. However, sales may take placfj to overseas ships in Australian waters and no objection will be offered to importations entered with the Customs Department for transhipment to the Pacific Islands. He added that in all the circumstances Cabinet considered there was justification for the reservation of the domestic market for Australian producers.
