“THE CINGALEE”
SEASON CONCLUDES TONIGHT. MASTERTON AMATEURS’ SUCCESS Bright, colourful and tuneful, “The Cingalee” was presented again in the Opera House last evening to an appreciative audience. A feature of the comedy is the gorgeous costuming, which forms the basis of many richly beautiful ensembles set in an Eastern atmosphere. The ballets, too, are particularly graceful and charming, the most attractive one being the moonlight ballet, in which some charming stage effects greatly enhance the beauty of the dancing. Last evening the part of Nanoya (a tea girl) was taken by Miss Winnie Young, who gave a most creditable performance and showed that she has considerable ability. She was graceful and convincing in love passages, and made at all times an excellent impression. “The Cingalee,” as it is being presented by the Masterton Amateurs, is well worth seeing, and no doubt there will be a capacity house tonight, when the season will be brought to a conclusion.
