LONDON QUOTATIONS. LAMB MARKET FIRM. Lamb market: Primes have advanced owing to relative scarcity of good quality lambs, with second quality steadier. Mutton market: Wethers and ewes, demand continues poor and values, where changed, are weaker. Beef market: Chilled beef, firmer this week owing to cooler weather and better demand. New Zealand porker pigs: Market quiet and unchanged. New Zealand baconer pigs: Prices have declined owing to heavy supplies and weak bacon market. Boneless bobby veal: Nominal, little available. The above report was received yesterday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday. Chilled beef prices are averages of the week. All prices are on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market. Prices for the previous week are shown in parentheses:—

North Island 2nd quality lambs, av. 30/311bs, 63d per lb. Best North Island wether sheep, under 481bs 5d per lb; 48/56Ibs, 4Jd per lb; 56/641bs, ’4 5-8 d; 64/721bs, 43d. North Island ewes, under 481bs, 3 5-8 d; 48/561bs, 3Jd per lb; 56/641bs, 3d per lb; 64/721bs, 2 7-8 d per lb. Compared with last week’s quotations, Down lambs l-8d per lb higher; xbred lambs, 28/361bs, Jd per lb higher; 36/421bs l-8d per lb higher’ wether, 48/561bs, l-8d per lb lower; ewes, 56/721bs, l-8d per lb lower- others unchanged. The lamb market is firm all round. The demand is poor for mutton, the market being easier all round. _____
