THE ARREST OF CAPTAIN KENDRICK MAY BE MERELY TECHNICAL (Recd This Day, 12.20 p.m.) VIENNA, August 18. Captain Thomas Kendrick, whose arrest on entering Germany was reported in an earlier cablegram, was driving with his Wife when fee was stopped by members of the Gestapo. Mrs Kendrick was not arrested, but accompanied the party to Vienna. The arrest may be merely technical. Captain Kendrick was crossing an area prohibited to foreign officers. The authorities possibly were not aware that though Captain Kendrick held the rank of captain, he was no longer serving.
