PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP. MASTERTON TEAMS. The following will represent the Masterton Harrier Club at the Wellington Provincial Championship to be held at Silverstream on Saturday, August 27:— A ’ team: Gregory, R. Shaw (capt.), C. Wright, T. O’Dowd, G. Fredrickson, J. Haise. B Team: C. K. Long (capt.), C. Ross, H. Carle,, H. Harris, I. Shaw, R. Warham. Emergencies: C. Pringle, J. Baikie. W. A. C. Pullar, New Zealand Cross Country Champion in 1934 and third in 1935, and who has not since competed in cross, country championships, was not available for selection which is unfortunate for the Masterton Club. Tomorrow the Masterton Club will compete for the 5-mile District Championship to be held at Solway under the auspices of the Kiatere Club. The race is timed to start at 2.45 p.m., and members of the club are reminded that cars will leave the Post Office at approximately 2 o’clock for Solway. The present holder of the 5-mile District Championship is G. Gregory who will defend his title tomorrow.

KIATERE CLUB On Saturday, under the auspices of the Kiatere Harrier Club, local runners will contest the Wairarapa Five Miles Cross Country Championship. The course to be used will be a twolap one, commencing and finishing at the Solway Showgrounds. Competitors will be started down the road from the southern entrance to the Showgrounds, and will follow the same to the left, until the end of Fleet Street, when the runners will turn into York Street. At the end of this street the -trail turns to the left into the paddocks. On reaching the railway line the course will run south parallel to the line as far as the Showground Road, which is followed to the starting point. To the winner of this championship will go the Wadham Challenge Cup. G. Gregory, the holder, will be defending his title, and among the contenders this year will be W. Pullar, a former New Zealand Champion. Competitors are requested to be ready to start at 2.30 p.m. sharp.
