SCOUT NOTES
(By “Rama.”) The camp of the Australasian Jamboree, to be held in Sydney at the end of this year, will be divided into five sub-camps of 2,000 each. Each subcamp will be subdivided into sections suitable for a Jamboree troop of 32 — four patrols of seven, with scoutmaster, assistant-scoutmaster, quartermaster and assistant. Rations will be issued on the basis of troops of 32. There will be a shopping centre, post office and banks. The official opening of the camp will take place on Saturday, December 31, 1938, and there will be an Overseas Day, a Fraternisation Day, a Cub Day, a Sea Scout Day, Excursion Day, etc. A three days’ hike will be arranged for Rover Scouts during the period of the Jamboree. An excellent site for the arena has been chosen, and it is hoped that all contingents will take an active part in the programme. The pageants and plays will be both day and night displays. Sea Scouts will have ample opportunity to participate in Sea Scout displays on the Lane Cove River. There will be happy camp fires and all will contribute to the programmes. The St. Matthew’s No. 1 Cub Pack will not be holding its usual meeting next week, Tuesday, August 23, but will meet as usual on Tuesday, August 30. Scouts, spring is here, summer is on the way. Don’t leave that camping gear in the corner any longer. Those billies should be cleaned and the tents in' trim to get out under the sky again.
