DAMAGES SOUGHT
« MAYOR OF CHRISTCHURCH AND OPPONENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, August 18. A claim for £lOO damages made by the mayor of Christchurch, Mr R. M. Macfarlane, against Mr B. Ahlfeld, has been set down for hearing in the Magistrates’ Court at” Christchurch on September 13. Messrs Macfarlane and Ahlfeld are candidates in the Parliamentary elections for the Christchurch North seat. A summons for this amount was issued today by Mr Macfarlane through his solicitor, Mr K. G. Archer. The grounds for the action are stated to be the contents of a pamphlet, alleged to have been issued by Mr Ahlfeld, in which certain references to the mayor were made.
