THE REGENT

“ROMANCE IN THE DARK.” Gladys Swarthout, John Boles and John Barrymore head the cast of a witty comedy studded with brilliant songs in “Romance in the Dark,” the Paramount- picture which will be shown at the Regent Theatre finally tomorrow night. “1 SEE ICE.’” ’ SATURDAY’S BIG FEATURE. One of the best comedies of the year, “I See Ice,” starring Britain’s George Formby will commence its Masterton season at the Regent Theatre on Saturday. Anthony Kimmins wrote the story of “I See Ice,” and this time they have made George a photographer, more amateur than mature, who takes the train for Birmingham, but is so carried away on meeting Kay Walsh that he arrives in London instead. Here George gets a temporary job as property man in a theatre, all of which is en route to the mammoth ice rink and George’s antics therein in his endeavour to qualify not only as an expert skater, but as an ice hockey, referee. Everything ends happily for all, except Cyril Ritchard who is the villain of the piece, and of course, George finds the time and occasion to fit in four of his inimitable songs, which he sings to his own banjo accompaniment.
