“THE CINGALEE”
PERFORMERS WARMLY RECEIVED. OUTSTANDING PRESENTATION. Another good house greeted the presentation of “The Cingalee” by the Masterton Amateurs in the Opera House last night. With each performance the standard of work has improved and has now reached a point when it compares very favourably with that of professionals. The principals have hard roles to enact but they have performed their tasks in a manner reflecting the greatest credit upon themselves and the Society of which they are members. The singing is of a high order, and the dancing equal to anything seen on an amateur stage. An important part of the performance is the orchestral music and in this connection the assistance given by the musicians is of the greatest value. Those present last night warmly applauded the efforts of the clever performers, whose combined work was outstanding. Those who have not yet witnessed “The Cingalee” should take the earliest opportunity to do so. The box plans for the remaining nights are rapidly filling.
