URGENT ACTION
AUSTRALIAN REPRESENTATIVES IN LONDON FEDERAL OFFICIAL MEETS AGENTS-GENERAL (Recd This Day, 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, August 17. After urgent cables from their Premiers, the Agents-General hurriedly arranged a meeting with the Official Secretary to the High Commission, Mr Duncan. Mr Stanley Bruce is away on holiday. STATE RIGHTS. MR FORGAN SMITH’S CLAIM. (Recd This Day, 10.35 a.m.) BRISBANE, August 17. The Premier, Mr W. Forgan Smith, said Queensland would insist on the right of its Agent-General in London to speak on its behalf as a sovereign State. He objected to the attitude of Australia House, which, he said, has been that it alone spoke for Australia.
