The Wellington Badminton Association’s tournament was continued last night in the Wellington Winter Show Buildings, championship events being commenced. There were, no surprises in the A grade events. Following are the results: — A Grade Men’s Singles. First round: E. Rilyard beat.H. Lubransky, 15-7, 4-15, 15-7; E. A. Roussell beat M. Marris, 15-6, 15-4; W. Jupp beat L. O. Evans, 15-11, 15-4. Women’s Singles. First round: Miss F. Fernie beat Miss J. Denby, 3-11, 11-5, 14-11. Men’s doubles: First round: Pearce and Ridyard beat Bews and Lubransky, 15-8, 15-10; Knight and Jupp beat Whyte and Wheeley, 15-9, 17-16; Marris and Gosnell beat Curtis and McLean, 15-12, 15-12. Mixed doubles: First round: Roussell and Miss Fleming beat Gosnell and Miss L. Berry, 15-9, 15-3; Pearce and Miss Fernie beat Jupp and Miss Denby, 15-8, 15-10. B Grade. Men’s singles: First round: A. Women’s Singles:—Second round: Miss McGregor beat Miss Clark, 15-0; Miss Marshall beat Miss Battye, 15-8; Miss Rose beat Miss O’Neill, 15-5. TOURNEY POSTPONED. NORTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, August 17. The North Island badminton championships, which were to have been held at Wanganui under the auspices of the Wanganui Badminton Association from Wednesday, August 24, to Saturday, August 27, will now be held from August 23 to August 26, as the hall will not be available for Saturday night,-August 27, as previously arranged.
