COURSING
SATURDAY’S BIG MEETING. OPEN & MAIDEN EVENTS. Coursing enthusiasts will be well provided for on Saturday, when the Wairarapa Club will hold two events at the enclosure on Mrs R. Buick’s property, Akura. A large number of outside dogs will be competing, including some notable performers from Wanganui, Taradale, Napier, Hastings and Wellington, many of which have not been seen in action here before. Only three of the sixteen dogs in the maiden event are Wairarapa dogs. Among those taking part in the open contest is the Waterloo Cup winner, The Clipper. Altogether, coursing of a high standard is promised and the meeting should prove a fitting conclusion to the season’s sport. Those responsible for the control of the club’s affairs have every reason to be well satisfied with the success achieved. For the benefit of patrons a free bus will run from the Post Office to the enclosure at 1.30 p.m. The coursing is timed to commence at 1.45 p.m. Concession tickets are obtainable from members of the committee at a greatly reduced rate.
