DAIRY COMPANY OUTPUT. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual general meeting of the Pirinoa Co-operative Dairy Company will be held on Thursday. The annual report stated, inter alia, that the output was less than last season and the estimated season average payout per pound of butterfat (all grades) which should result from the disposal of unsold cheese at the values adopted is 16.457 d, excluding the balance from last year. The retiring directors are Messrs D. S. Warren and J. Busch. The auditor, Mr L. Smart, is eligible for re-election. ,
MUSICAL PLAY. The Kahutara Drama Circle staged a musical play in the local hall on Wednesday evening, when the performance was greeted by a large audience who showed their appreciation by constant applause. EUCHRE AND DANCE. A euchre tournament and dance in aid of the candidature of the local aspirant for queen honours was held on Saturday evening. There was a large attendance. Miss Duffy won the ladies’ prize, with Mrs Carter second. Mr R. Piripi won the men’s prize, M. Goodin being second. A local dance band supplied the music for the dance. Supper was provided by the ladies. The school children will put on an entertainment on Saturday evening and no doubt this function will draw a large crowd. The funds will be in aid of the local candidate. LADIES’ GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP. The semi-final of the ladies’ championship of the local club was played on Saturday between Mrs Carter and Miss Tikao (last .year’s champion) when after a keen and closely contested ’game, Mrs Tikao won. She will now meet Miss Edgelow in the final. PERSONAL. Mr Jim Taurau, who' was taken seriously ill a few days ago, is an inmate of the Greytown Hospital. Mr Jack Hemi, the well-known League footballer, arrived from Auckland on Monday to attend the funeral of his late uncle, Mr Jack Raharuhi (Matthews), at Greytown. The death occurred at Paekakariki recently of Mrs Hughes, a pioneer settler of Foxton. She was the mother of Mrs Sayer and Mr Harry Hughes, of this district. Mr Clayton, of the Martinborough office, is relieving Mr Stan Thomas, at the local post office, the latter being on his annual leave. Mr R. McDougall, who has been on a visit to the South Island, has returned home. Mrs J. Cowan, who has been visiting relatives in the Feilding district for the past two months, has returned. LATE MR J. RAHARUHI. The late Mr Jack Raharuhi (Matthews), who died at Masterton on Saturday in his younger days was a noted athlete and footballer. He is survived by two sons and a daughter, his wife having predeceased him two years ago. Mrs Ngatuere, Hastwells, is a sister. The funeral which was a large and representative one took place at Greytown on 1 Monday, the pall-bearers being returned soldiers.
