CHESS

AUSTRALIAN PLAYER’S VISIT TO MASTERTON. CONTESTS THIS EVENING. Considerable interest is being taken by chess players in the Wairarapa in the visit to Masterton this evening of Mr Gregory Koshnitsky, a well-known Australian player. A chess match will be held in the Oddfellows’ Hall (opposite Messrs Hugo and Shearer Ltd), commencing at 7.30 o’clock, when Mr Koshnitsky will play games simultaneously against all-comers. During his tour of New Zealand, in which he has visited all the principal centres, he has created a most favourable impression. Players are loud in their praise of Mr Koshnitsky as an instructive player, an informative lecturer and as a modest man of great personal charm. All chess players of the district are invited to meet Mr Koshnitsky and take part in the games. Players must bring their own boards and men as no spare sets are available.
