OFFICIAL DENIAL
STATEMENT BY BRITISH DEPARTMENT PRUDENCE IN TRADING WITH ITALY NO POLITICAL SIGNIFICANCE By Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. (Recd This Day, 12.50 p.m.) LONDON, August 15. It is officially denied that the warning by the Department of Overseas Trade on the dangers of trading with Italy, cabled on August 12, had a political significance. Signor Gayda’s statement that the warning proves the necessity of Italy accelerating her war preparedness is described as astonishing, as the Department of Overseas Trade was animated purely by a business prudence.
