MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED
MOTOR-CAR FALLS SEVENTY FEET. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) TAUMARUNUI, August 15. Joseph Dowman, aged 16, was driving a car at Piopiotea West yesterday, with his mother and Harry Pattinson as passengers. ■ Dowman, who had had influenza, fainted, and the car fell seventy feet down a bank. Dowman received minor cuts and his mother cuts and shock. Mr Pattinson was thrown out and the car passed over him, breaking his back. ,He was taken to hospital. Mr Pattinson is a farmer and a returned soldier, married, with one child.
