LONDON QUOTATIONS BUTTER MARKET STEADY The London butter market was quietly steady last week. New Zealand finest salted was quoted on Friday at 121 s a cwt., a decline of Is on the week. Australian at 117 s to 118 s was down 3s a cwt. According to the report supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department to the Dairy Board, Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: — New Zealand, salted, 121 s (1225; a year ago, 115 s to 116 s); unsalted, 121 s to 122 s ( —; a year ago, 116 s to 118 s). Australian, salted, 117 s to 118 s (120 s to 121 s); unsalted, 118 s, 119 s to 120 s (120 s to 121 s).
Danish, 106 s f.0.b.; 126 s to 127 s spot (105 s 125 s to 1265). Dutch, unsalted, 107 s to 108 s, ex Ills (109 s to 110 s). Lithuanian, unsalted, Ills (112 s Retail prices were unchanged, New Zealand and Danish at Is 3d a lb. Deliveries of New Zealand butter last week were 1927 tons, as compared with 773 tons of Australian. New Zealand butter in store, including 433 tons ex the Port Wyndham, totalled 6521 tons, as compared with 4175 tons a year ago. Australian butter in store was 4823 tons, as against 4988 tons a year ago. -v The- cheese market was firm, New Zealand showing an advance of Is a cwt on the week. Friday’s closing prices, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follow: — New Zealand, white and coloured, 70s 6d to 71s (69s 6d to 70s; a year ago, white 69s 6d to 70s, Coloured 67s 6d to 68s). Australian, white and coloured, 67s to 68s (66s to 67s 6d). Canadian, white and coloured, 78s to 80s (78s to 80s); c.i.f., 69s (68s 6d). English, finest farmerss’, 84s to 86s (84s to 86s); factory cheese, 66s (65s to 65s 6d). The retail price of New Zealand cheese was unchanged at 9d a lb. Deliveries of New Zealand cheese last week were 17,359 crates. The quantity in store, including 13,140 crates ex Port Wyndham, was 65,660 crates, as against 35,755 crates a year ago. Deliveries of‘ Canadian cheese last week were 3968 boxes; the quantity in store was 85,879 boxes, as compared with 114,958 boxes a year ago.
