DAVIS CUP

THE BROMWICH-NAKANO SINGLES. (Rec This Day, 12.5 p.m.) MONTREAL, August 14. It was nearly seven in the evening when Hopman stopped the Davis Cup match in which Bromwich was playing Nakano, and, after a conference with Bromwich, announced that the latter had defaulted. Both Bromwich and Nakano were very weary and there appeared to be a danger of Bromwich permanently injuring himself.

The American zone final, in which Australia defeated Japan by three matches to five, is reported in an earlier cablegram.
