SCOTTISH CONCERT

WAIRARAPA COLLEGE PUPILS. MOST ENJOYABLE PROGRAMME. The first concert presented by the pupils of Wairarapa College in-the Assembly Hall last evening attracted a large attendance of the public. The audience'was most enthusiastic, the standard set throughout being commendably high. The College Pipe Band, which was heard in several selections, made a fine impression. Its efficiency was ably demonstrated and the audience could well understand the band’s performance at the Dominion contest, when its marks were only ten below those of the winners out of a possible of 400. Among the performers was Pipe-Major Murdo MacKenzie, winner of the New Zealand championship for three years in succession, who played the march with which he won the championship. His reception was most cordial. A one-act play, “Campbell of Kilmohr,” produced by Mr H. R. Thomson, was well received. Following was the programme: —College Pipe Band, selection; recitation, Margaret McLaren; Irish reel, Kathleen Burke, Connie Burke, Madge Robinson, Jean Stevens; drill display, junior girls; operatic dance, Kathleen Dallas; recitation, Joan Grantham; piping selection, Pipe-Major Murdo MacKenzie; one-act play, “Campbell of Kilmohr,” the scene is the interior of a Highland cottage after the ’45 Rebellion), characters: Mary Stewart, Margaret Stewart; Morag Cameron, Glen Daysh; Dugald' Stewart, K.
