The Miners’ Federation convention endorsed the Central Council’s recommendation that the Federal and State Governments and colliery proprietors should be served with an ultimatum, giving them fourteen days in which to reply to the miners’ claims. This ultimatum probably will be issued next week. The Greater Newcastle Council will ask both the Commonwealth and State Governments to intervene in tbe mining dispute and to consider the whole question of the rehabilitation of the coal industry.
