SCOUT NOTES

(By “Rama.”) It is with regret that we note that our Chief, Lord Baden-Powell, has to rest for twelve months and may not be able to attend the Jamboree at Sydney at the end of the year. A real “Scouty” welcome waits our New Zealand Contingent at the Australian Jamboree which will be held from Dec. 29, 1938, to January 9, 1939. The site is at Bradfield on North Shore Line, west of Roseville and Linfield, only nine miles from the Sydney G.P.O. It covers well-timbered, undulating hills and valleys, some 700 feet above sea level. Views of some of the most attractive scenery around Sydney are obtainable from the site. The camp will be set in sylvan surroundings in almost its natural state, and splendid swimming facilities are available adjacent to the camp in the Lane Cove River. St Matthew’s No. 1 Cub Pack. The following Cubs have received stars and badges for Cub work: —R. Knight, H. Braggins, B. Sigglekow, E. Picket, G. Jaine, A. Picket, L. Gray, R. Marshal, B. Fly, B. Loader. The pack is now preparing for its birthday, which will be held in September.

The St Matthew’s Troop is now having a spring clean of its camping gear, ready for an early start, and the various patrols are getting their equipment together, so as soon as “Hoa” and “Rama” get back on to hard rations—cabin bread—they will be off.

Don’t forget that the monthly church parade will be held on Sunday.
