GOLF COMPETITIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Owing to the wet weather and the state of the road the Homewood team was unable to play the return match scheduled for Sunday, and it is probable that a date will be arranged later in the season. Next weekend an inter-club match will be played against the Wainui-o-ru Club on the Stronvar links. Players are reminded that an early start is necessary to enable three rounds to be played. Any player who is unable to make the trip is requested to notify the club captain before Saturday next. On Saturday the second round for W. Kummer’s trophies will be played in conjunction with the first qualifying round for the championship. The following is the draw: — Men: Gray v. H. Paku; Cotter v. A. McGregor; M. Paku v. N. Foreman; Vennell v. Winter; W. Kummer v. R. McKinstry; E. Nitz v. F. McKinstry; J. Bannister v. P. Kummer; N. Kummer v. I. McGregor. Ladies: Mrs Schofield v. Miss Bannister; Miss Dickason v. Miss McGregor; Mrs Read v. Mrs Nitz; Miss M. Taylor v. Mrs R. Bannister; Mrs McKinstry v. Mrs Foreman; Miss Taylor v. Miss Buckeridge; Mrs J. Bannister v. Mrs A. McGregor; Miss Vennell v. Mrs I. McGregor; Mrs Kummer a bye. During the week Mrs Schofield defeated Mrs McKinstry and Mrs J. Bannister' in a Kummerstein Cup match. She will meet Miss Bannister next Saturday. E. Nitz defaulted in a Nimmo Cup match with S. Gray, and H. Paku /ill meet S. Gray next Saturday in a similar challenge. BACHELORS’ BALL.

The annual bachelors’ ball was held in the Te Wharau Hall on Saturday night, ther.e being a large attendance of dancers. The music was supplied by Barnes Rythm Boys, who provided a first-class programme and had to respond to numerous encores. The duties of M.C. was carried out in an efficient manner by Mr D. O’Brien, and the committee wish to thank the ladies who came to the assistance of the bachelors and so helped to make the function the success it undoubtedly was. f The next dance to be held in' rl the hall will be the Golf Ball on September 10.
