CZECILSUDETEN PROBLEM LORD RUNCIMAN BRINGING PARTIES TOGETHER. PROTEST AGAINST GERMAN INSOLENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. (Reed- This Day, 12.15 p.m.) PRAGUE, August 10. The first direct Czech-Sudeten negotiations since Viscount Runciman’s arrival began today. Dr Hodza (Premier) received the deputies and arranged for further meetings. Lord Runciman is receiving the Sudeten deligates tomorrow. His presence is aiding meetings of the groups hitherto most widely separated. An official Czech broadcast objects to a German “campatign of insolence, which is directed against the efforts of France and Britain for European peace.” 5 The latest suggestion from the German Press is that rhe Sudetens may be forced to take “measures of selfdefence against the Czech terror.” NO CONFERENCE HENLEIN PARTY RAISES DIFFICULTIES (Recd This Day, 11.30 p.m.) PRAGUE, August 10. Hopes of a first contact between the Sudetens and the Coalitionists broke down, the Henlein Party not recognising the constitutionality of the Ministerial Committee, and refusing to negotiate except with Dr Hodza.
