IMPORTANT FRIESIAN SALE

In the advertising columns will be found details of the annual unreserved fixture taking place on the property at Turakina on Tuesday, August 16, on account of Major R. A. Wilson, D.S.O. The 28 in-calf heifers are a line of 2 and 3-year-olds in good order and condition, and have excellent butterfat backing, as the result of many years of careful selection and breeding. In 1934 “Mahoe Totara” won the Gold Medal for the year in her class as junior four-year-old and one of this dam’s heifers is catalogued for the sale. In 1936 “Mahoe Titi” produced over 800 lbs. of butterfat being credited with 20,9641b5. milk and 810.4411b5, fat, test 3.86. In 1937 “Mahoe Aquamarine” produced 663.191 b. fat with a test of 4.36. There are 11 yearling and twoyear Friesian bulls to be offered mostly sired by that excellent butterfat bull “Mahoe Oliver,” whose dam has 629 and 7481b5. fat to her credit. “Mahoe Emerald” (dam of “Mahoe Glenfalloch,” one of the 2-year-old bulls catalogued for sale) has an average yield over nine periods of 4041b5. of butterfat. Dairymen and breeders in search of butterfat sires are recommended to send for catalogues and to attend this fixture. Following Major Wilson’s usual practice the heifers are for unreserved sale, but there will be a slight reserve on the bulls.
