♦ MISS .BATTEN SUGGESTED AS COMMISSIONER. BRITISH NEWSPAPER’S VIEW. (Recd This Day, 12.20 p.m.) LONDON, August 8. The “Daily Telegraph,” discussing the constitution of the Civil Air Guard, suggests that one of the commissioners might be Miss Jean Batten, whose experience would be most useful. The appointment necessarily would be dependent upon the length of her stay in England.
