OFFICIAL SECRETS

PROGRESS OF THE BRITISH INQUIRY. POSSIBILITY OF PROCEEDINGS IN PUBLIC. (British Official Wireless.) (Recd This Day. 10.5 a.m.) RUGBY, August 5. The select committee appointed as a result of the Sandys’ case is understood to have agreed to its report on the first part of its terms of reference, namely, the statement in the House of Commons by Mr D. Sandys, that he was summoned to appear before a military' cO'urt of inquiry. According to Parliamentary newspaper correspondents, the committee is unlikely to meet again before Parliament reassembles. After this, the committee will take up the wider issues of the applicability of the Official Secrets Act to members of Parliament and it is suggested that this part of the inquiry may be held in public.
