Control of Insect Pests.

Whether success had attended attempts made abroad to control insect pests by light-traps, and what prospects there were for the use of this .method against the brown beetle in New Zealand, was a question asked of Mr L. Morrison by Dr F. W. Hilgendorf at the “questions evening’’ of the Royal Society of New Zealand, Canterbury branch. The reply showed that little definite success had been obtained, and that there was no method yet available for determining the exact effects of light-traps.
