PRICES AT FEILDING. DEMAND FOR GOOD STOCK. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, August 5. There was a steady demand for good quality stock in all sections of the Feilding stock sale today. Fat sheep held quite on late rates, with extra prime lines showing a slight appreciation. Inquiry for breeding ewes was also good and welldone lines made good figures. Lambs were readily saleable if in well-finished order, but there was little demand for backward sorts. The store cattle sale was confined to boner cows, which made late rates, as did dairy stock, where select and high grade lots were easy to quit. Beef of quality and finish was in demand, but here again badly finished lines dragged. Realisations were:— Sheep: Wethers, prime finished 26s 6d to 27s 6d; second quality, 25s to 265; lighter, 23s to 24s 9d; plain, 225; b.f. two-tooths, 21s to 255; ewes and wethers, 21s 2d; prime ewes, 19s 6d to 20s; 1 lighter prime, 16s 6d to 17s Id; unfinished, 14s; extra prime maiden ewes, 23s to 25s 6d; best quality lamb, 20s to 21s; medium sorts, 17s to 17s 9d; light, 14s 7d to 16s 7d.
Store sheep: Sound-mouthed in-lamb ewes, best, 21s lOd to 22s lOd; others, 13s lid to 18s 9d; good four-tooth, 355; others, 30s; small two-tooth, 30s 6d to 31s 6d; four find five-year, good, 25s lOd to 28s 10d; five-year, 25s lOd; others, 23s 7d to 24s 7d; four-year store sheep, 295; mixed aged, 30s 2d; forward wethers, 21s Id; b.f. lambs, 10s Id to 14s 7d; wethers, best, 18s 8d to 20s; smaller, 15s 2d to 16s 7d; ewe lambs, best, 20s 4d; small, Us 4d to 16s 6d. Cattle: Dairy cattle and springing heifers, best, £8 10s to £lO 12s 6d; late calvers, £6 10s to £7 15s; inferior sorts, 45s to £6; springing cows, good, £9 to £9 ss; others, £4 10s to £6 ss; cows in milk, £5 10s to £8; heifers in milk, £4 5s to £6. Store cattle: Boner cows, £2 to £3 ss; yearling Jersey heifers, £3 to £3 18s; P.A. cows, backward, £3 7s 6d; P.A. heifers, £2 17s 6d; empty Jersey heifers, £2 17s 6d to £3 ss; weaner steers, £1 8s; cows and calves, £5 3s; bulls, £2 16s to £6. Fat cattle: P.A. and Hereford cross bred cows, £7 5s to £7 12s 6d; unfinished, £5 10s to £6 10s; light heifers, £6 5s to £6 10s; bullocks, good, £10; light, £7 to £7 15s. Pigs: Weaners, 15s 6d to £1 8s 6d; slips, £1 to £1 2s 6d; sow and litter, £6.
CARTERTON SALE, Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report:—A small yarding of sheep and pigs and yarding of cattle came forward at the Carterton sale yesterday. With the exception of one or two small pens of sheep practically a total clearance was effected under the hammer at the following prices:— Sheep: B.F. hoggets, to 14s; f.m. ewes r.w. S.D. rams, to 12s 6d. Cattle: Springing Jersey cows, £5 to £8 15s; springing Jersey heifers, to £6 10s; empty Jersey heifers, to £3 12s 6d; fat cows, £4 to £5 2s; forward cows,, £2 10s to £3 16s; store cows, 30s to £2 8s; bulls, £3 to £6. Pigs: Weaners (small), 8s to 10s; (medium), Ils to 14s; (good), 15s to 17s; slips, 10s to 20s 6d; good store pigs, 22s to 27s 6d; light porkers, 28s to 325; porkers; 33s to 455; sows to farrow, £2 15s to £3 10s.
