RUGBY CONTROL
MEETING OF WAIRARAPA UNION. REPRESENTATIVE FIXTURES. The Wairarapa Men’s Hockey Association applied to Thursday’s meeting of the Wairarapa Rugby Union for a reduction in charge for use of Memorial Park for Wairarapa v Indian hockey match, and also submitted a statement of receipts and expenditure for the game. It was resolved that as the Rugby season had not shown any profit, and the Union was still faced with heavy expenditure, including over £5O borough rates on Memorial Park, no reduction could be made. The Wellington Rugby Union advised that the Wellington junior representatives would play Wairarapa juniors at Wellington on August 20 as the early game to the Hawke’s Bay v Wellington representative game. Wairarapa and Bush seniors will play at Masterton on August 13. Mr E. McKenzie will manage the Wairarapa team. The senior championship was declared closed, Carterton being the winners. The senior teams will play a knock-out competition for the Redmond Cup, opening on August 20, after which the holders will defend the cup against the team highest up.
