OBITUARY
MR C. R. VALLANCE. News has been received of the death at Te Awamutu on Thursday last of Mr Conrad Robert Vallance. The late Mr Vallance was the second son of the late Mr James Vallance, who was the owner of “Kahumingi” prior to its being taken over by the late Mr C. F. Vallance. Mr C. R. Vallance is survived by his wife and one daughter, Miss Norma Vallance. CAPTAIN W. B. MAXWELL. (Recd This Day, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, August 4. The death has occurred of the novelist, Captain W. B. Maxwell. The late Mr Maxwell, who was the author of many novels, was late chairman of the Society of Authors and of the National Book Council. MR EDWARD GUERITZ. (Recd This Day, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, August 4. Mr E. P. Gueritz, at one time associated with the Bank of New Zealand, and later holding official positions in the Malay Peninsula, Labuan and North Borneo, is dead.
