A letter addressed to “the government of the city of office of the municipal board in Otago," has reached the town clerk of Dunedin. It was written from Vienna by an Austrian mdsician not of Jewish extraction, who seeks a position as a teacher in New Zealand. The writer declares that conditions for the study of music in Vienna are “desolate,” young people preferring to interest themselves in sport and politics, while military education “destroys ambition for the culture of fine arts.”
