SCOTLAND FAILS
GAME AGAINST AUSTRALIA WICKETS GO VERY CHEAPLY. SPIN BOWLERS ON TOP. By Telegraph —Press Association. Copyright. (Recd This Day, 10.10 a.m.) LONDON, August 4. The weather was fine but cool for the match between Scotland and Australia. McCabe won the toss and the Australians batted first. There was nothing festive about the early batting of the Australians, Badcock and Walker scoring seventeen in half an hour. Barnes, however, batted crisply. McCabe played a brilliant versatile innings of sixty-five minutes duration. He hit one 6 and nine 4’s.
Australia was dismissed with unexpected ease after 195 minutes play. Symon, a medium pacer, bowled very well. Scotland batted poorly against the spin bowlers, six wickets being down for 47 runs in less than an hour. McCabe, in a charitable attempt to prolong the game, put on Fingleton and Barnes, but the wickets continued to fall. Scotland were all out in ninety minutes. The scores were as follow:— AUSTRALIA.
