AIR EXERCISES

TEST OF BRITISH DEFENCES OPERATIONS ON GREAT SCALE IN THE EAST OF ENGLAND AND THE MIDLANDS. (British Official Wireless.) (Recd This Day, 11.5 a.m.) RUGBY, August 4. Air exercises will be held tomorrow and on Saturday over the greater part of East England and the Midlands, when air defences will be thoroughly tested. The exercises will be on a scale greater than ever before and some 900 aeroplanes will participate. In addition the first and second AntiAircraft Divisions will be at their posts and some 17,000 gunners and sappers of the Territorial Army will take part.
