Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:—Barografph, 30.32 shade temperature, maximum 42, minimum 33.2; terrestrial, 31.6; rain, 50 points. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 50 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today.
General situation: —Yesterday's depression is passing away eastward. An anti-cyclone extends from the Western Tasman Sea on to southern New Zealand, and pressure is rising over the Dominion generally. Forecast: —Moderate to strong southerly winds, reaching gale force at first in some exposed positions, but decreasing tonight. Weather: Changeable and with passing showers at first, mainly in and east of the ranges, but gradually improving. Temperatures: cold, with some hard frosts. Seas rough, but moderating to-, night.
