DECIMAL COINAGE
URGED BY ACCOUNTANTS’ SOCIETY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. In a paper on decimal coinage, submitted to the Council of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, Mr A. J. Allport, of Timaru, reviewed the important progress of the decimal coinage movement in Great Britain and said the reform was advocated by the Empire chambers of commerce. He urged that the Accountants' Society should take a lead in New Zealand as the society could render most valuable service to business and industry by an intelligent anticipation of natural trends. The following resolution was carried:— That in the opinion of this council. the adoption of decimal coinage in the British Empire would result in important savings in industry and commerce and the council will support any efforts to achieve this reform.
