SALUTES FIRED
TRIBUTES TO HER MAJESTY IN AUCKLAND.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day.
The booming of guns in a Royal salute from the battery at North Head and at the Devonport Naval Base at midday paid tributes of respect to Queen Elizabeth on the occasion of her Majesty’s birthday. All the ships were fully dressed, presenting an attractive picture. The flagship Achilles, the Leander, Philomel, and Whakakura and also the survey vessel Endeavour and two sloops were absent on a cruise.
The Territorial Forces fired a salute of twenty-one guns from the North Head. In the city flags were flown from public buildings.
