General situation: A depression is crossing the Auckland Peninsula; ar. intense anti-cyclone covers Eastern Australia and is extending on to the Tasman Sea; pressures are rising in the south under its influence. Forecast: Moderate to strong southerly to southeasterly winds, later reaching gale force in parts of the Straits. Weather cloudy to overcast, with intermittent rain and snow on the high levels; temperatures cold.
