DETECTIVE STORIES ARE FAVOURITES OF THE GREAT.
People who scoff at detective stories arc in danger of betraying their lack of statesmanship, clear thinking and education.
According to the noted author Carolyn Wells, people who play bridge or chess; people who are good at puzzles and kings and statesmen are the greatest devotees of mystery stories. Among Ihe notable examples are Woodrow Wilson, King George V, both Presidents Roosevelt. ex-President Hoover and a host of other world leaders.
Warner Gland, appearing as the world's ace detective in “Charlie Chan at Monte Carlo,” now at the State Theatre on Friday week, recently was informed that a newspaper survey
abroad revealed that Charlie Chan is the most popular human movie character in Europe. Some theatres have a Charlie Chan film on every programme.
