“GOODBYE BROADWAY.”
Lots of hilarity and a tinge of touching sentiment mark Universal's “Goodbye Broadway,” opening at the Cosy Theatre tomorrow night. Charles Winninger and Alice Brady lead the fun as Fat and Molly Malfroy, former vaudeville artists, who buy a small town hotel. A series of hilarious headaches is one result of this purchase but Miss Brady and Winninger meet their difficulties successfully. A powerful supporting cast includes a promising newcomer, Tommy Riggs, who brings his Betty Lou act to the screen. He was formerly a radio star on the Rudy Vallee programme. Tom Brown, Dorothea Kent, Frank Jenks, Jed Prouty and others impersonate the vaudevillians and rustics who contribute to the merriment of this screen adaptation of James Gleason's famous play.
