SOWING SEEDS

SOME USEFUL HINTS. When sowing seeds in boxes it is important in the first slace that the mixture of soils used should be perfectly blended. If a box is filled with a compost that consists of lumps of loam, chunks of compressed leaves and some sprinklings of sand, ashes and other things, the seeds sown in such a, varied mixture will be like the scriptural broadcasts —some falling on stony ground, some on other kinds. Get an even mixture of the ingredients of a good compost, sifted fine and well mixed. The seeds will then have a good prospect of making a fair start in life.
