Nearly 4,000,000 volumes of the Telephone Directory for London are turned out every year. They weigh 4000 tons. Bulgarian Customs officers have been instructed to keep a strict watch on beards. This follows the discovery that a traveller —who had attracted attention by his nervousness —had a dozen valuable rubies concealed in his beard, hoping to smuggle them over the frontier.
